Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Department of School Education &amp; Literacy (Government of India), emphasized the nation’s responsibility to nurture balanced and future-ready citizens. The inaugural address by Dr. Kandarpa Das, Vice-Chancellor of Girijananda Chowdhury University, and the blessing by Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati, set a tone of collaboration and commitment.Renowned speakers such as Dr. Paula Mukherjee Goel, Sr. (Dr.) Deepa Raj, Dr. Ranjan Bose, and Dr. John Franco Tharakan explored the multifaceted challenges faced by adolescents in the digital age—addressing mental health, technology use, and holistic wellness.The sessions and panel discussions, chaired by Fr. (Dr.) Mathew Koyickal, Deputy Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, offered actionable insights on promoting student health within school systems. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Most Rev. Paul Mattekatt, Bishop of Diphu and Chairman of the North Eastern Education Commission.The event affirmed that healthy students are the cornerstone of a healthy nation, and that education must integrate wellness in every policy and practice to realize the transformative goals of NEP 2020.

The Principals’ Meeting of Catholic schools in the Guwahati region, held at St. Claret School, Guwahati, provided a platform for collaboration and educational planning. The agenda included interschool programs in Artificial Intelligence, Environmental Awareness, and Constitutional Literacy, reflecting the NEP 2020 emphasis on multidisciplinary learning.&nbsp;The meeting also addressed teacher welfare, equitable remuneration, and scholarship provision for students from underprivileged backgrounds. A major resolution was to organize interschool teacher training sessions to enhance pedagogical competence and professional growth.Principals reaffirmed their commitment to the collective mission of Catholic education and to the North Eastern Catholic School Principals’ Conference scheduled for October 2025. The session ended with a prayer for unity and educational excellence.

Principals’ Meeting – Guwahati Region (20 August 2025)

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), in collaboration with ACET, conducted a training session at Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati. The session, led by Shri R. C. Jain, IAS, Chairman, ASSEB, explored the structural and pedagogical changes introduced in the new state education framework.Participants engaged in discussions on examination reforms, assessment standards, and competency-based education. These sessions echoed NEP 2020’s vision of experiential and inclusive learning.The workshop concluded with practical guidance for school administrators on implementing board policies and fostering teacher professional development through continuous training.

The theme, 'Redefining Catholic Educational Paradigms,' reflected ACET’s commitment to renewal in light of NEP 2020’s transformative educational landscape.The conclave highlighted the need for innovation within Catholic institutions, promoting professional collaboration, learner-centered methodologies, and equity. Leaders reflected on integrating moral and spiritual formation with skill-based education, echoing NEP 2020’s stress on character development and holistic growth.The conclave concluded with a consensus to strengthen inter-diocesan cooperation, enhance teacher formation, and invest in digital and inclusive education for all learners.

ACET, in collaboration with DBI and BNHS and supported by Oxford University Press, organized a full-day workshop at NEDSSS, Joypur Kharghuli, Guwahati. The event focused on the implementation of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2024), which operationalizes the pedagogical goals of NEP 2020.Dr. Nishi Sehrawat Phogat, Academic Consultant, served as the resource person, guiding participants through competency-based learning models, assessment reforms, and interdisciplinary integration. In his message, Archbishop John Moolachira emphasized the importance of aligning faith-based education with national educational objectives while retaining Catholic identity.This workshop empowered teachers and administrators to design curricula that cultivate critical thinking, ethics, and creativity—principles central to NEP 2020’s holistic vision of education.
